Join Louis Armstrong Historian Ricky Riccardi and get Satchmo Centric aboard the Riverboat Louis Armstrong! A weekend of all things Satchmo kicks off Friday night with the official Launch Party of Satchmo SummerFest! Friday night, we will celebrate and groove with New Orleans Jazz All-Star Line Up and the debut of the custom-curated Life of Louis Armstrong Art exhibit. The Life of Louis will be told through an interactive collaboration of New Orleans Musicians, Satchmo Expert Ricky Riccardi and The New Orleans Jazz Museum. As Satchmo said himself “To jazz, or not to jazz, there is no question!”. The same is true for this Launch Party… there is no question, we are bringing it back in style.
Top New Orleans Musicians and Artists join forces to produce an immersive experience rooted in the history and culture of Louis Armstrong. This Friday night Launch Party not only kicks off Satchmo SummerFest but celebrates the long-awaited return of our beloved Festival Season. Enjoy a step back in time as we relish the sounds and history of Louis Armstrong while exploring the Life of Louis as presented by The New Orleans Jazz Museum.
With features from many New Orleans Jazz Greats, Players Ella and Louie Tribute Band revive the timeless era of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. New Orleans Jazz Allstars Featuring: Wendell Brunious, Eileina Dennis, Mark Braud, Sharon Martin, Freddie Lonzo, Joe Lastie, Christian Winther, Joe Lastie, Mitchell Player, Leslie Martin and Eric Merchant.
Combining the sights and sounds of Satchmo, you will indulge in cuisine that highlight’s some of Louis’ most favorite foods and an open bar!
